Terms of Attendance
Who These Terms Protect and Cover
These Terms apply to everyone who attends Haunted Little Tokyo, and they are for the benefit of the event organizers, and their sponsors, venue partners, vendors, performers, staff, volunteers, and agents (together, the "Event Parties"). By RSVPing or attending, you agree to these Terms.
Admission
Haunted Little Tokyo is a 21-and-over event. All attendees must present valid government-issued photo identification at entry. Admission is granted pursuant to a revocable license; the Event Parties reserve the right to refuse entry or revoke admission at any time, in their sole discretion. RSVP registration is complimentary; a $5 donation at the door is suggested but not required. An RSVP does not guarantee entry in the event that venue capacity is reached; entry is first-come within capacity and safety limits. RSVP confirmations are non-transferable and may not be shared, resold, or redistributed. Scheduled performers, DJs, and programming are subject to change without prior notice.
Venue Location
The event venue is disclosed exclusively to confirmed RSVP registrants prior to the event date. Attendees are requested to refrain from publicly disclosing the venue location.
Security Screening
All attendees pass through a security checkpoint as a condition of entry. Screening may include bag inspection, walk-through or hand-held metal detection, and identity verification. Refusal to be screened means no entry. Attendees must follow the instructions of event security, event staff, and law enforcement at all times, including during any emergency or evacuation.
Costume Contest
Attendees may enter the costume contest as individuals or groups via the designated registration forms. Finalists will be invited to appear on stage during the evening program. Individual category winners are determined by popular vote; group category winners are selected by the appointed guest judges. All judging decisions are final and binding. Prizes, if any, are as announced at the event, have no cash value, and may not be exchanged.
Code of Conduct
All attendees are expected to conduct themselves respectfully toward fellow guests, performers, vendors, venue staff, event workers, and the surrounding neighborhood. Attendees must comply with all posted signage, street closures, and instructions issued by event security personnel and law enforcement. The organizers reserve the right to deny entry to or remove any individual engaging in disruptive, threatening, or unlawful behavior, without refund. Harassment, discrimination, physical altercations, or threats of violence will result in immediate removal and may be referred to law enforcement authorities.
Alcohol Policy
Alcohol is sold and served at the event only by licensed vendors and partners, only at designated bar areas, and only to attendees aged 21 or over presenting valid government-issued photo identification. Service may be refused or stopped at any time, including to any person who appears intoxicated. Outside alcoholic beverages are strictly prohibited. Providing alcohol to anyone under 21, or using another person's identification, will result in removal and may be referred to law enforcement. Attendees are expected to consume alcohol responsibly and to use a designated driver or rideshare service.
Prohibited Items
For the safety of all attendees, the following items are prohibited and may result in denied entry. Security personnel reserve the right to inspect bags at entry:
Weapons of any kind, whether real or realistic in appearance — including as components of costumes. Costume prop weapons must be clearly and obviously non-functional replicas. Illegal substances and drug paraphernalia. Outside alcoholic beverages. Glass bottles or containers. Fireworks, sparklers, or explosive devices. Laser pointers. Unmanned aerial vehicles (drones). Large backpacks and oversized bags may be refused at the discretion of security personnel.
Identification Verification
Costume masks and face coverings must be removed at the point of entry, and again upon request at any bar or checkpoint, to permit identity verification. No exceptions will be made.
Event Modification and Cancellation
The organizers reserve the right to modify, postpone, or cancel the event, or to change its hours, layout, or programming, due to inclement weather, air quality, safety concerns, permit revocation, public-health or government orders, or other circumstances beyond their reasonable control. Voluntary donations are non-refundable.
Animals
Only registered service animals are permitted at the event.
Special Effects and Atmosphere
This event uses theatrical special effects throughout the night, which may include strobe and flashing lights, laser and moving-light displays, fog and haze machines, CO2 and confetti effects, elevated sound levels and bass vibration, blacklights, and other atmospheric effects.
Photosensitivity warning: flashing and strobe lights may trigger seizures in individuals with photosensitive epilepsy or similar conditions.
Respiratory note: fog and haze are produced with theatrical fluids generally recognized as safe for event use; they may nonetheless irritate eyes, throat, or airways, particularly for guests with asthma or respiratory conditions.
By attending, you acknowledge these effects, accept the risks they present for your health conditions, and agree to move to an effects-free area or seek event staff if you feel unwell. Effect types and intensity may change without notice.
Scare Elements — Look, Don't Touch
Haunted Little Tokyo is a horror-themed event. It may include jump scares, sudden sounds and movements, roaming performers in costume, graphic horror imagery, fake blood, and simulated gore.
Performers will not intentionally touch you. Do not touch performers, other guests, sets, or props. Contact with a performer results in removal.
Fake blood and atmospheric residue may contact skin and clothing and may stain. Costumes and clothing may also be damaged by crowd contact or effects. Attend and dress accordingly; the organizers are not responsible for stained or damaged costumes or clothing.
Photography, Filming, and Media Release
This is a public event at which photography and videography will take place, conducted by the organizers, their media partners, sponsors, vendors, and attendees. By attending, you grant the Event Parties the irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free right to capture, reproduce, edit, publish, and distribute your image, likeness, and voice in event-related media across all formats and channels — including websites, social media, press, and sponsor materials, for this and future editions of the event — without further notice or compensation. This grant applies equally to organizers, staff, volunteers, vendors, and performers appearing in event coverage.
Photo booth. If you use the event photo booth, your photographs are provided to you through a personal link, are retained in the event archive, and are covered by the media release above, including use in promoting future editions of the event.

By posting event content with the event hashtag (#HAUNTEDLITTLETOKYO10) you grant the organizers a royalty-free right to repost and share that content, with credit, in event channels.
If you appear in event media and would like it removed from our promotional use, contact us as described in our Privacy Policy and we will remove it.
Check-In, Photo Claims, and Your Photo Page
Check-in & your information. Checking in (or signing up at the event) records your name and email so we can operate the event, send event emails (including the location, updates, and a thank-you), and measure attendance. If you start a sign-up and don't finish it, we keep what you entered so you can complete it or recover your photos, and we delete incomplete records after the post-event window.
The photo & your ID photo. Taking a photo is optional. When you claim a photo (by entering your email and agreeing), you give Haunted Little Tokyo permission to display that photo on the event's live projection/feed and to use it in event marketing and recap materials. You receive a templated ID photo to download and share. Photos that are never claimed are never displayed and are deleted within days after the event. If you claim a photo together with others, we may note internally that you attended together for event analytics; we do not sell personal information.
Claim pages. Your photo page link is yours — keep it private if you don't want others to see your photos. Pages stay available after the event so you can retrieve your photos.
Health and Safety Notice
The event environment includes loud music and amplified sound, flashing and strobe lighting, theatrical fog, low-light areas, and dense crowds. If you are sensitive to any of these, take appropriate precautions. Stay hydrated, keep exits and pathways clear, do not climb on structures, barriers, or vehicles, and report anything unsafe or suspicious to event staff or security.
Assumption of Risk and Limitation of Liability
Attendance is at your own risk. Outdoor nighttime events involve inherent risks, including but not limited to crowd density, reduced visibility, elevated sound levels, strobe and fog effects, alcohol consumption by other attendees, uneven walking surfaces, wet or slippery surfaces (including condensation from fog effects and spilled beverages), special effects as described above, and physical contact incidental to dense crowds. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, you hereby waive and release the Event Parties and their respective officers, agents, and affiliates from any and all claims, damages, or causes of action arising from or related to your attendance. The organizers shall not be liable for lost or stolen personal property — including vehicles and their contents in surrounding streets and parking areas — personal injury, or other losses incurred at the event, except where caused by gross negligence or willful misconduct. In the event that the organizers are found liable notwithstanding the foregoing, their aggregate liability shall not exceed $100.
Medical Consent
By attending, you consent to the administration of emergency first aid and medical treatment in the event of illness or injury during the event. If you are experiencing symptoms of illness, we ask that you refrain from attending.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the Event Parties from and against any claims, damages, costs, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your conduct at the event or your breach of these Terms.
Dispute Resolution
Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or your attendance shall be resolved exclusively through binding arbitration administered in Los Angeles, California, in accordance with the rules of the American Arbitration Association. You hereby waive any right to a jury trial and any right to participate in a class action or class-wide arbitration.
Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict of laws principles. Any dispute relating to the event or this site will be resolved in Los Angeles County, California.
